AGP Choline in PureLung: A Name the Label Does Not Spell Out

Quick answer

The label prints AGP choline and does not spell out the full chemical name. It is listed third in the PureLung blend, so it can weigh at most 200 mg per serving, and the real amount is not printed. Choline is a needed nutrient, but we found no evidence that it supports the lungs.

What does the name mean?

Choline is a nutrient the body uses to build cell membranes and to make a brain chemical. Eggs, meat, fish and some vegetables supply it. Supplements use different forms, and the abbreviation AGP is often used for alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine, a form sold for thinking support, also written alpha-GPC.

We cannot confirm that AGP on this label stands for that name, because the label does not say so. That is the point of this post: an abbreviation is not a disclosure.

Where does it sit in the blend?

Third. The ceiling is 600 divided by 3, so 200 mg per serving. The actual amount may be less. In studies of choline forms, the amounts used are often several hundred milligrams a day, so a figure at the ceiling would still be a small share of such doses (NIH ODS, Choline).

What research covers

Studies of choline forms look at memory, attention and in some cases recovery after stroke. They use defined doses and forms. None looked at lung health, and none tested this blend. A form that is well known for the brain adds nothing known for the airways.

Safety notes

Choline at high doses can cause a fishy body odour, sweating, low blood pressure, stomach upset and nausea. Safe upper limits exist for total daily intake, and the label does not let you work out where this capsule lies.

  • Count choline from eggs, multivitamins and brain supplements.
  • Ask a pharmacist if you take medicine for blood pressure or Alzheimer's disease.
  • Stop if you notice dizziness or a strong fishy smell.
Be careful with pregnancy

Choline is a needed nutrient in pregnancy, but extra supplement forms should be chosen with a clinician, not by a lung label.

What to ask the seller

  • What is the full name and form of AGP choline?
  • How many milligrams are in a serving?
  • Can you show a certificate of analysis for my lot?

If the retailer cannot answer, treat the name as unverified. A supplement facts panel is meant to let a buyer know what is inside, and an abbreviation without the full name falls short of that. Save the reply, or the lack of one, with your order records for later. See the AGP choline page and the blend page for how the ceilings work.
