Vitamins B6 and B12 in PureLung: Why the Amounts Matter

Quick answer

Vitamin B6 is listed seventh and vitamin B12 ninth in the PureLung blend, with ceilings of about 86 mg and 67 mg per serving, but the real amounts are unknown. B vitamins are real nutrients, yet long-term high B6 can harm nerves, and B12 amounts matter to people on certain medicines.

What do B6 and B12 do?

Both are B vitamins the body needs. B6 helps the body use protein and make some brain chemicals. B12 supports nerve function and red blood cells. Most healthy people get enough from food, and B12 is found in animal products, so some vegans and older adults need extra.

Where do they sit in the blend?

B6 is seventh, with a ceiling of 600 divided by 7, about 86 mg. B12 is ninth, with a ceiling of about 67 mg. Those figures are limits. Typical daily needs are around 1.3 to 1.7 mg for B6 and 2.4 micrograms for adults, so the ceilings are far above need and say nothing about the real dose.

The B6 caution

Taking large amounts of B6 over a long time can cause nerve damage, with tingling and numbness in the hands and feet (NIH ODS, Vitamin B6). The risk grows with high daily doses over months. Because the label does not print the B6 amount, there is no way to check where the capsule sits.

  • Add up the B6 in your multivitamin, energy drink and other supplements.
  • Stop and call a clinician if you notice tingling or numbness.
  • Report the product to the seller and consider a MedWatch report (FDA, MedWatch).

The B12 question

B12 has a low risk at high doses for most people. Still, forms vary. The label names cyanocobalamin, a common and low-cost form, and prints 1% beside it without saying what the figure measures (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). B6 is listed as pyridoxine. B12 can mask signs of other problems, so test results may look normal while another issue goes unseen. Tell your clinician if you take B12 and have blood tests.

Who needs B12?

People over 50, those who follow a vegan diet and people who take certain stomach or diabetes medicines may have low B12. That is a reason for a blood test, not for a lung capsule.

Do B vitamins help the lungs?

We found no evidence that B6 or B12 supports breathing in healthy people. They are present because many multi-ingredient capsules use them. Their presence gives the label an air of nutrition without giving the lungs any known help.

What does the PureLung label say?

The label shows 60 capsules, a serving of 2 and a 600 mg Proprietary Blend of eleven names with no single amount; it names no disease.

Checking your own intake

Look at your multivitamin and any B-complex. If they already supply the daily need, an extra capsule adds duplicates. See the vitamin B6 page and the vitamin B12 page for the ingredient entries.
